Dynasylan® makes wood more resistant 

Wood impregnation with silanes improves the useful life of treated wood. Evonik has succeeded in developing a particularly effective surface protection agent for wood: Dynasylan® SIVO 121. The water-based environmental compatible system shows an excellent water and oil repellency and protects the wood surface against the tendency to staining. 

Depending on the treatment method, the treated surfaces show water repellent properties and may even prevent adhesion of oils and greases to the wood surface and their permeation into it.

SURFACE IMPREGNATION

 

Hydrophobic and oleophobic effects can be achieved on wood surfaces using fluoroalkyl silanes. Particularly effective is the product Dynasylan® SIVO 121. The product is UV-stable, water-borne and ideal for non-film forming surface treatment. The natural feel, touch, beauty, and smell of the wood remain unchanged, whereas water and oil are repelled by the treatment.

As it is not a coating, it is almost invisible and does not leave a layer on the surface. It penetrates into the material and is breathable (not impermeable to water) and avoid trapped moisture.
