Dynasylan® for metal treatment

Metals need to be protected against corrosion. Silanes and silane based-sol gel systems are new raw materials to formulate new metal treatment formulations that are environmentally benign.

Silanes are used in two specific application areas:

Metal pre-treatment:

Silanes are additives and resins for the formulation of primer systems applied to the metal surface before the application of a coating. Such primers form a barrier to the ingress of water and chloride onto the metal surface. Furthermore, they improve the adhesion of the coating on the metal surface.

Blank metal corrosion protection:

Waterborne silane and sol-gel systems are used in Cr-VI-free corrosion protection systems. Dynasylan^® HYDROSIL and SIVO^® SOL Technology has been especially designed for these applications.
