Dynasylan® - the brand for functional silanes
EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) is the standard crosslinkable encapsulation material with more than 25 years experience in the field providing excellent processing properties and long-term module stability. To secure a long life time of solar modules and their continuous power generation, the encapsulation material needs to fulfil a range of criteria, e.g.:
Dynasylan® functional silanes act as versatile adhesion promoters between the EVA encapsulant and different layers of a solar module (e.g. inorganic glass or silicon layers). Dynasylan® can easily be compounded into the EVA encapsulant film. Methacrylate functionalised silanes are an excellent solution to adhere the encapsulant to the glass substrates and front sheets. Besides our front runner Dynasylan® MEMO, our R&D specialists continuously screen for more efficient solutions which enable higher process efficiencies and longer shelf life of the encapsulant film.
Silanes protect modern adhesives and sealants from high levels of environmental humidity, and maintain the full adhesive capacity of joined but not yet cured adhesive surfaces. Hence, Functional Silanes are an ideal additive for a safe mounting of solar modules.
In the assembly of solar modules, state-of-the-art cables are being used. For those cable insulations, moisture-cured XLPE and mineral filled polyolefins or rubbers are used. Here, functional silanes are essential adhesion promoters and coupling agents for highly filled compounds. Silanes are also used as grafting and crosslinking additives for XLPE cable insulations as well as for PEX-b pipe installations.
