Drying Agents with Dynasylan^®

Due to their faster hydrolysis rates vinyl-functional Evonik Silanes such as Dynasylan^® VTMO are typically used as water scavengers in moisture-cured hybrid sealants. Dynasylan^® VTMO captures excess moisture even in the presence of other silanes added to the formulation for other purposes.

Addition of Dynasylan^® VTMO to a sealant formulation results in improved package stability and prevents premature cure during compounding (i.e. skin formation).

The graph below shows the shelf life of a polyurethane sealant containing various amounts of Dynasylan^® VTMO as a drying agent.
